Minelab Metal Detectors Have History Of Innovation

For over 20 years Minelab metal detectors have used extensive research and development in the design of detectors that go deeper and separate the treasures from the trash, enabling users of Minelab metal detectors to bring home more valuable items and fewer pull tabs and bottle caps.

There is more to funding gold in the hills and Minelab metal detectors are also used for security scanning, finding precious metals as well as underwater detecting while wading in shallow water, such as along the beach. Among metal detectors there are certain characteristics that separate the quality units from the rest. The technology used in the circuits, type of ground balance and the frequency in which it operates. There are different types of discrimination available and Minelab metal detectors can tell the difference between a piece of a discarded pop can and a gold nugget or ring.

Ground balance is one of the important features as it determines in what type of soil the detector can work the best. A unit equipped with manual balance requires the owner to adjust the balance based on the type of soil being detected. Pre-set balance allows the unit to be used in only one type of soil, limiting its usability. Automatic ground balance, designed by Minelab metal detectors changes the balance automatically to suit the type of soil on which the detector is being used.

    Coils Make Difference In Sensitivity

On any metal detector, the size and shape of the coils will determine how deep the detector can read for metal as well as it sensitivity. As a general rule, the larger the coil the deeper it can penetrate, but a loss of sensitivity will be realized. Smaller coils may be more sensitive, but their penetration depth is limited. Most Minelab metal detectors use smaller coils, but in different shapes to get around bushes and rocks and improved technology for deeper penetration.

The shape of the coil, round or elliptical is mainly for use in different terrain. Elliptical coils found in some Minelab metal detectors models can fit into detecting heads to move easily around obstruction while the conventional round-shaped coil are usually lighter and easily maneuverable and are used by most looking for buried gold.

Regardless of where the detector is going to be used or the type of metal the user is hoping to find, Minelab metal detectors will have a model that is easy to use and close to being error-free to allow the user more precious finds for their efforts.
